Gabriel-"In your lifetime, there are dates you will never forget. Dates so profound they have changed you for better or worse. 7-4-14 is a date that has given me the absolute best. It is the day I met the love of my life. It’s a memory so vivid I can remember it like it was yesterday. It begins on a Friday night, I was asked to come out and meet this girl my brother had acquainted himself with. I was very hesitant at first, going to house parties wasn't quite my scene, and I thought "if this girl loved going to these house parties then she might be a little too ratchet". But there was just this overwhelming feeling that I would regret not going. I'm sure as hell happy I followed my instincts because the second I saw that car she was in pull up next to me, the window roll down, and her face appear, I knew tonight, this date, was going to be one I would never forget. We introduced ourselves, "Hi, I'm Jackie, you're super sexy" she said. My memory is a little hazy so she might not have said that exactly but it was pretty close. I was dying for a drink, after all we were at a party! Celebrating the Americas birthday, no less! I saw that Jackie had a case of beers with her so I asked for one. Her eyes peered at me with such disgust, as if I had asked her to do inappropriate things right then and there, this girl really loved her alcohol back in the day, luckily, she found Jesus now haha jk. She reluctantly handed me the beer, other than that slight awkwardness the rest of the night was magical. We danced, we talked, we laughed, it was a blast. And the highlight of it all came when I gathered the courage to look her in the eyes and with a very timid voice I said "is it okay if I kiss you?". By the grace of God, she said "yes" with a smile, and with that kiss began my obsession with her, it kicked off what would become one of my greatest accomplishments, being her lover.
It was a difficult road leading up to that night, but I'm glad it was a difficult one because it made the lesson clearer. The lesson that the second I met Jackie, I was meant to love her as much as I can, for as long as I can, and I can never stop loving her, not even for a second and I will continue to carry that lesson with me. I thank God, every God there is, or ever was, or ever will be, that I had the courage to go out the night of 7-4-14, because not only was it the birth of our nation, but the birth of our relationship. And through that I have had the best experiences of my life, and have met the best people in the world through her, and I can never take that for granted."
